Born in 1970, Stéphane Toullieux spent the most of his education in the Military School of Saint Cyr. After a year of preparatory class at Lycée Chaptal, he joined EDHEC business school in 1988. He graduated in Corporate Finance in 1991. Then he joined the Navy where he made a long military service as a Marine Officer and get National Defence Medal and the Medal of Voluntary Military Service.
He joined the Crédit Commercial de France in 1993, first in the banking network as executive assistant and then as Credit Analyst for monitoring international banking counterparties and in charge of banking relations within the International Department of the CF. He participated in several procurement missions and joined the CCF participation pole to help create a pole of interest in the filed of Asset Management.
The operations in which he participates include equity investments in portfolio management companies Apogée, DNCA, Financière de l’Echiquier GEFIP in France, Dewaay Bank and RBV in Belgium.
In 2001, he joined Financière de l’Echiquier as Development Director, at this time, the entity managed less than €200 millions. He is a key architect of the firm’s development with both customers and products. In 2006, he became Chief Executive, accelerated the international development and institutional clients and, despite the 2008 crisis, he led the firm to €7.5 billion of assets under management in 2011.
Through his career, he has sought to establish Financière de l’Echiquier as major brand among its customers and partners in France and abroad, innovating through creative events policy (Creation of Exchequer Academy, Summer University etc.), a proactive marketing approach and a projection to digital marketing.
Considering that the development of men is key in business, he is behind the participation of Financière de l’Echiquier to the Great Place to Work ranking, for which the firm has consistently ranked among the best French companies.
In January 2014, he left Financière de l’Echiquier to create TLLX.
